Peace Boat and Ecoship at EarthX to increase awareness of the important role of the ocean
On April 20-22 2018, Peace Boat and Ecoship took part in EarthX, the world’s largest environmental expo, conference and film festivals for sharing the latest initiatives, discoveries, research, innovations, and corporate practices that are reshaping our world. More than 100,000 participants, dozens of speakers and exhibitors participated to celebrate Earth Day in Dallas, Texas.
Peace Boat and our partner organization Global Green had an exhibition space together to showcase our work. Attended by kids, students, business persons, environmental activists, cruise industry experts and responsible citizens, participants showed strong interests in Peace Boat’s sustainability initiatives including but not limited to Ecoship. “In US it is popular to go on a cruise holiday, and Ecoship was received very well as an exciting game changer for the cruise industry”, says Yoshioka Tatsuya, Peace Boat Founder, and Director.
During the exhibition, Yoshioka gave an introduction to Ecoship at EarthxOcean Conference, designed to increase awareness of the important roles oceans play in our daily lives, kicked off by a plenary session presented by renowned speakers including oceanographer Dr. Sylvia A. Yoshioka also spoke at one of the main stages, Centennial Stage, where attendees got inspired by Ecoship’s boundary-defying technology such as 10 retractable sails, 6,000m2 of solar panels and disco with kinetic dancefloor that generates electricity.
