The Ecoship Project visits Shanghai for the Seatrade Cruise Asia Pacific Congress
From 11-13 October, the Ecoship Project will be present in Shanghai, China, for the Seatrade Cruise Asia Pacific Congress. The conference will bring together high calibre cruise line executives from across the globe, government officials and other key cruise industry stakeholders for 2 days of intense innovative conference sessions focussing on China’s impact on the regional and global cruise markets now and in the future. It will take place at Lake Malaren International Convention Center in Baoshan District.
With 66% compound growth rate over the last 3 years, China is the fastest growing market in the region. Many sources, including analysts and specialists in the cruise sector in Asia strongly support the idea that the Chinese market will grow continuously over the next years. Some 2 million-cruise passengers are expected to pass through China and Hong Kong terminals in 2016. According to the Chinese Ministry of Transport, the country will be the largest market in the region with 4.5 million passengers by 2020.
The Ecoship team will visit the Seatrade Cruise Asia Pacific Congress to learn about this new market. The event will cover the most pressing topics in China’s cruise market like the cruise geography of Greater China, technical and regulatory affairs, port infrastructure and the sales and distribution channels.
With more ships scheduled to be based in the region, Seatrade Asia Pacific Cruise Congress will feature a bespoke Travel Agent Training Day aimed at Chinese Travel Agents, featuring agent-specific conference sessions on the cruise market in China.
