The Peace Boat Ecoship Project is our vision and our message – for a global culture of peace and sustainability. The Ecoship project is a transformational programme to construct the planet’s most environmentally sustainable cruise ship. A vessel that will deliver for its passengers a unique programme of activities centred on experiential learning, intercultural communication and travel around the world.
A New Way
Inspired by nature
The world's first 10-mast cruise liner
Hybrid propulsion – 40% cut in CO2 emissions
Innovative biophilic and biomimetic design
A groundbreaking project requires a radically different approach. In 2014 we organised a multi-disciplinary charrette, bringing together world experts from fields as diverse as naval architecture, renewable energy, and biophilic and biomimetic design with the goal of defining the specifications for a ‘restorative’ vessel – where radical energy efficiency and closed material flow combine for a net positive impact on the environment.

The Ecoship project builds on Peace Boat’s 30-year legacy as a unique social enterprise and the role it plays as an NGO with Special Consultative Status with the United Nations. Our education and advocacy activities are indivisible from the business and travel aspects of our cruising operation – making us so much more than a holiday cruise.
